Carbide Inserts - what is a carbide turning insert
This price includes shipping cost, export and import duties, insurance, and any other expenses incurred during shipping to a location in France agreed with you as a buyer. No other mandatory costs can be added to the delivery of a Haas CNC Product.
Our indexable ball end mills come in two types: steel and carbide. The premium indexable alloy steel end mills have excellent strength, precise H6 tolerance shanks, and are nickel plated to prevent corrosion and improve lubricity. Our indexable carbide ball end mills have the same rigidity as solid carbide end mills, so they are very stable in the cut, and capable of excellent results at higher length-to-diameter ratios. Also, the carbide shanks allow them to be used with shrink-fit toolholders for added rigidity and very low runout.
HTHM Grade: (High-Temperature Hard Milling) The inserts for the harder materials feature a nano-grain carbide substrate and nano-composite that combines the Aluminum Titanium Nitride coating with a Silicon Nitride bond (AlTiN + SiN). The coating combines very high hardness with high thermal stability against oxidization, up to 1200 degrees centigrade.
Use caution when installing inserts in the indexable ball end mills. The insert must be installed in a specific orientation. Please refer to the Technical Details document for more detail on installing inserts.

Leading threading and creative grooving and turning solutions in difficult to machine and delicate applications for the miniature, medical and dental industries.
HTM2 Grade: (High-Temperature Milling 2) The modified Aluminum Titanium Nitride coating (AlTiN), along with high hardness, provides thermal stability against oxidization, superior wear resistance, and allows faster speeds and feed rates. A more focused grade, meant specifically for cutting stainless steel.
The helical end gash geometry on the inserts reduces the amount of torque required for a given cut, and aids in chip evacuation. It also prevents chatter and prolongs tool life. The cutting edges are polished for better wear resistance and longer tool life. Polished edges also improve repeatability, surface finish on workpieces, and coating adhesion.
HTM1 Grade: (High-Temperature Milling 1) The modified Aluminum Titanium Nitride coating (AlTiN), along with high hardness, provides thermal stability against oxidization, superior wear resistance, and allows faster speeds and feed rates. A general-purpose grade that is suitable for cutting steels up to 50HRc, including some forms of stainless steel.
Innovative solution for the gear milling industry, offering a competitive alternative to the traditional Hob system. Gear manufacturers can now mill external splines, external cylindrical gears, sprockets and racks as well as many additional gear applications with Vargus gear milling tools.
The inserts for the ball end mills also come in three styles: a general-purpose HTM1 grade for steels up to 50 HRc, a specialized HTM2 grade meant specifically for stainless steels, and HTHM grade for hardened materials from HRc 40 up to HRc 65. Each series has unique geometry and an extremely abrasion-resistant coating for excellent performance.
