One of the main reasons why people opt for Indexable milling tools over solid carbide cutters is because they are available in larger diameters for a fraction of the price. Indexable tool holders are manufactured from steel making them much cheaper to produce and the interchangeable carbide inserts can be easily replaced when worn. As a result, the tool life of an indexable tool will be much longer than that of a solid carbide cutter, resulting in reduced tooling costs. A major benefit of using indexable milling tools is having the option to rotate, flip or replace the insert when the cutting edges are worn. This can be achieved whilst leaving the tool set in the machine which minimizes down time and increases production. Another benefit is the material versatility of indexable milling tools due to the wide choice of insert grades available. This means they can be used on different materials without changing the holder. Cutwel’s range of indexable milling grades include options for steel <60HRC, stainless steels, titanium, Inconel, cast iron and non-ferrous materials.

90° square shoulder indexable milling systems for a wide range of applications from general machining to high performance solutions.

At Cutwel we offer several types of indexable milling systems including 90 degree, high feed milling, copy milling, 45 and 36 degree face milling, T-slot milling and side and face (disc milling). Below is a summary of each range to help you choose the right one for your application: 90 Degree indexable milling tools are the most popular style within the indexable range, they can be used for a wide range of applications including slotting, profiling, helical plunging, ramping and much more. We have systems suitable for general and high performance applications. High feed milling combines small depths of cut with ultra high feed rates to achieve maximum metal removal rates and increase productivity whilst reducing machine stress. Available in face mill and end mills starting from 8mm diameter up to 315mm diameter. Copy milling systems generally use button style inserts, suitable for face milling, profiling, ramping, contouring and 5 axis machining applications. Also suitable for high feed and high metal removal rates across a wide range of materials. 45 degree face milling are dedicated tools for face milling applications, where the 45 degree approach angle reduces cutting loads when taking larger depths of cut and promotes a smoother cutting action. Standard insert geometries are suitable for medium to roughing applications, wiper insets are available for fine finishing applications. 36 degree milling is a new concept of face milling, it combines high feed rates similar to high feed milling and cut depths similar to standard 45 degree milling. The 36 degree approach angle offers better stability which means higher feed rates can be achieved whilst maintaining low cutting loads. T-slot milling from market leader Simtek, dedicated indexable tooling for machining T-slot profiles, High quality carbide inserts combined with special clamping design offers vibration free milling. Side and face (disc milling) ideal for deep slotting applications up to 70mm depths starting from 6mm wide.

Designed for high metal removal rates. A combination of small depths of cut with a large cutting radius and high feed per tooth.
