The Premium Carbide End Mills are made from a traceable grade of material. They are precision manufactured for consistency, quality and accuracy. All Micro-Grain Carbide body (carbide grade: K40). Thanks to small grain size (0.5-0.8μm), these end mills are precision ground to a sharper cutting edge. These end mills are centre cutting which means they will plunge, drill or ramp into a cut.TiAIN Coated Solid Carbide End MillsThe Premium TiAlN coated End Mills are coated with the highly regarded Balzers Balinit® Futura Nano TiAlN (titanium aluminium nitride) coating offering high-performance machining and long tool life. Depending upon machine limitations, TiAlN coated end mills can operate at speeds up to 100% higher than uncoated end mills. TiAlN coated end mills are recommended for machining steel, cast iron and stainless steel. In general, TiAlN is a high-performance coating of about same hardness as TiCN but will maintain it's hardness at much higher cutting temperatures. When the cutter is working hard, the aluminium content in the coating forms a gaseous aluminium oxide layer at the cutting edge where the temperature could reach more than 800°C. This helps to protect the HSS-AL substrate from the damaging effects of heat and is what makes this coating ideal for high speed machining, especially when dry cutting. Depending upon the limitations of your machine, TiAlN coated end mills can be operated at speeds up to 100% higher than uncoated end mills. The Balzers Balinit® Futura Nano coating offers outstanding properties enabling high-performance machining and long tool life. In fact Balzers Balinit® Futura Nano not only out-performs uncoated cutters, TiN and TiCN coated cutters but also many other TiAlN coated cutters as well.

By removing the bottom half of both a walking stick and a flute, flautist Zac Zinger (what a stage name!) creates a brand-new instrument that he plays a bit like a recorder.

Whether you're browsing for inspiration or ready to make a purchase, our doors are wide open to welcome you every day. Feel free to drop by!

Zac explains that the idea came about when his dad had an operation. “My dad just had hip surgery and is getting around with a cane. But I think I found a better use for it.”

You can make a musical instrument out of pretty much anything – a stick of bamboo, a blade of grass or even a carrot. But check out this enterprising musician, who managed to make a flute out of his dad’s walking stick.

He slots the two upper parts together and uses the small holes in the walking stick to change notes. The sound then comes out like a slightly airier flute.
