Interpolation algorithm is very important in the Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) because it assesses the quality and quantity of products processed on machiine tools.Many algorithms have been researched and deployed including hardware interpolation and software interpolation. Owing to the influence of arithmetic speed of computer software, the accuracy and speed of numerical control system's feed based on software interpolation are subject to certain restrictions. In this paper, the authors builds and improves stair approximation algorithm of circular interpolation on the FPGAs, for trajectory 2D, 3D space. The simulation and experimental results show that stair approximation algorithms of circular interpolation based on FPGAs are better than previous soft algorithms.
