To ensure the best possible machining results, we have decided not to prepopulate speeds and feeds information into our tool libraries. Instead, we encourage machinists to access the speeds and feeds resources that we offer to dial accurate running parameters based on their material, application, and machine capabilities.
You can create the path in Surface mode by creating two sketches. One on the XY plane which will contain one line equal to the radius of the workpiece. One on the XZ plane which will contain one line equal to the height of the workpiece (threads).

Once you have downloaded your HSM tool library, you will need to import the tool libraries into your HSM software by heading to the “My Libraries” tab and right-clicking and selecting “Open in Window Explorer”. From there, navigate to your Downloads folder on your computer, and select the tool library files you have downloaded to add them to your HSM library.
If you are looking for tool specific speeds and feeds information, you will need to access the tool’s “Tech Info” page. You can reach these pages by clicking any of the hyperlinked tool numbers across all of our product tables. From there, simply click “Speeds & Feeds” to access the speeds and feeds PDF for that specific tool.

this new UI on fusion has me lost. last night it was great. today i got an upate and everything is in a different place.
You can also search by keyword. For example, if you are looking for Harvey Tool Undercutting End Mills, search for “Undercutting End Mills” to filter results down to just those tools. If you need metric tools, type “metric” into the search bar to see your results.

Due to the differences in naming conventions between manufacturers, some Harvey Tool holemaking and threading tools will not appear exactly as you think in Fusion 360. However, each tool does contain a description with the exact name of the tool. For example, Harvey Tool Flat Bottom Drills display in Fusion 360 as Counterbores, but the description field will call them out as Flat Bottom Drills, as you can see below.
Harvey Performance Company has partnered with Autodesk to provide a comprehensive Harvey Tool and Helical Solutions tool library for Autodesk HSM users. Every tool from the two brands’ expansive product offering – more than 35,000 tools in total – is available for use with your HSM software.
Using the Sweep command, set the profile to the first sketch line and the path to the second sketch line. Set the Taper Angle to the number of degrees for the path.
Attached is a template for creating custom threads. You'll need to edit the thread form sketch, this will cause errors but they are easy to fix. The diameters and pitch are set in the properties manager, you might find editing the parameters is easier with the timeline rolled back.

You will see two options listed: “For Fusion 360” and “For Autodesk HSM”. To download your HSM tool library, choose the “For Autodesk HSM” option. This will trigger an .HSMLib file to download into your computer’s Downloads folder.
If it's square you might be able to get away with a Coil. Coil has a square option but the profile is parallel to the axis not perpendicular with the helix. This means the height is squashed a bit but on a big diameter with a shallow helix you probably will not notice.
To access speeds and feeds information for your Helical Solutions end mills, we recommend using our Machining Advisor Pro application. Machining Advisor Pro (MAP) generates specialized machining parameters by pairing the unique geometries of your Helical Solutions end mill with your exact tool path, material, and machine setup. MAP is available free of charge as a web-based desktop app, or as a downloadable application on the App Store for iOS and Google Play.
You will also be able to search by dimensions, flute count, profile type (square, ball, corner radius), and all of the other search features already available to you in Autodesk’s HSM software.
My days of manually creating vendor tools within HSM are slowly coming to an end. As a longtime HSMWorks and Inventor HSM user, I’ve followed the path of Tim Paul from the Autodesk CAM Team, measuring everything I do in the software as ‘mouse clicks’. The more mouse clicks I have to do, the longer it takes me to get to the machine to cut a part. Now I’m getting out to the machine faster with all the Harvey and Helical end mills ready to go!
