Aluminum is one of the most commonly machined metals, as it is very economical and allows a high spindle speed as well as heavy cuts. Using the optimal milling speed as recommended by the cutting tool's manufacturer can permit increased depth of cut and reduce chatter, allowing smoother, and more effective metal removal. Determining the right speeds and feeds for your tool and your application can be a complicated, but being informed of the tool manufacturer's recommendations and understanding a tool's ideal speed (revolutions per minute or RPM) based on cutter diameter, operation, and material, is necessary before you start running your machine. Running a tool too fast can cause suboptimal chip size or in the worst case, catastrophic tool failure. Conversely, running a tool too slow can result in poor finish, deflection, or decreased metal removal rates. If you are unsure what the ideal RPM for your job is, refer to our aluminum milling speed and feeds guide, or contact our tech team or the tool's manufacturer directly.
The pitch of a lead screw refers to the distance from one thread to the next. The 8mm lead screws have 4 threads with a 2mm pitch which yields 8mm of ...

Note: Carbide Technologies measures hardness by the Vickers method for accuracy then converts the results to the Rockwell A Scale which is more easily recognized in the US.
Is the ability of a material to absorb energy of deformation, such as impact or load, without breaking or fracturing. High toughness requires both high strength and high ductility.

In the test, a minor load (10 kgf) is first applied, and the test dial is reset to zero. Then a major load (60, 100, or 150 kgf) is applied to create the indentation. The major load is reduced back to the minor load, and the indentation depth determines the hardness.
It is the relative ability of one material to wear, abrade, deform or indent another material. Hardness is measured on some relative scale such as Moh’s, Rockwell, Vickers scales. The diamond is the hardest material known to man at this writing; all other materials have their hardness expressed in terms of it.
