When delivering feedback, I always try to end in a positive position. Even if performance was not where you wanted it to be, I try to work with the individual to set goals to get back on task. I will discuss expectations and where they are regarding those expectations. Then I will try to have them set goals for themselves on how to reach what is expected, with guidance as needed. This is proving to be a positive experience for both the individual and the company.
It was the fall of 2008. The Great Recession was upon us. After 20 years working in multi-billion dollar organizations, I had resigned to start my Lean Manufacturing consulting business. I was on my way to meet a potential client, cruising along in my Corvette Z06 listening to music on my iPod through my stereo, as the song title moved across my screen. Then, the music stopped; a man started talking. I glanced at the screen. It was a 1 hour overview of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. I remembered a friend had downloaded it to my iPod for me...3 years earlier! I let it play. I had never heard anything like it. That decision changed my life for the better. I had accidentally discovered my passion: Personal Growth & Leadership Development. "Educate & obey your conscience. Educate your conscience by studying literature that inspires you the most. Then obey it. Little by little, as you obey it, you will get more education." ~ Stephen R. Covey I began focusing on personal growth & leadership development. Today, I’ve published 15 books, released 400+ podcast episodes, spoken at Yale, & traveled through 40 states in a single year. You don’t have to be sick to get better. But, you must be intentional, passionate, & take constant action to “get better.” That’s exactly what I did in ‘08. I didn’t just listen, nod my head in agreement, & then, move on like I had never heard it. I took action. Since that day, I’ve been a full-time student of growth & development content. My personal transformation has been exceptional. I also discovered John C. Maxwell a few years after Covey. John had this to say about passion: “Take a look at four truths about passion & what it can do for you... Passion is the first step to achievement - Your desire determines your destiny. The stronger your fire, the greater the desire & the greater the potential. Passion increases your willpower - There is no substitute for passion. It is fuel for the will. If you want anything badly enough, you can find the willpower to achieve it. Passion changes you - If you follow your passion, instead of others' perceptions, you can't help but become a more dedicated, productive person. In the end, your passion will have more influence than your personality. Passion makes the impossible possible - Human beings are so made that whenever anything fires their soul, impossibilities vanish. A fire in the heart lifts everything in your life. A leader with great passion & few skills always outperforms a leader with great skills & no passion.” Make it happen or someone else will. It might as well be YOU! Keep climbing!! If you want to become more intentional & you want to “get better,” consider reading about my journey. I’ve captured much about my struggle & success in two of my books: 1) Defining Influence: Increasing Your Influence Increases Your Options 2) 10 Foundational Elements of Intentional Transformation: How to Become Your Best Self.

“Andre Bourgeois Corporate Recruiter JJE Capital Holdings LLC 11/22.2024 To Whom It May Concern, It is my pleasure to enthusiastically recommend Chris LoPresti for any open positions within your organization. My name is Andre Bourgeois, and I serve as the Corporate Recruiter Coordinator at JJE Capital Holdings LLC. With over 10 years of experience in manufacturing, I have worked alongside many talented individuals, and Mr. LoPresti is one of the most outstanding professionals I have had the privilege of collaborating with. During our time working together, Chris consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and extensive manufacturing knowledge. When he first joined our team, I was immediately impressed by his ability to adapt seamlessly to a new corporate structure within a unique industry. Over time, his understanding of complex manufacturing processes surpassed that of his peers, setting him apart as a leader and an innovator. One of Chris’s most remarkable achievements was his successful turnaround of a manufacturing facility that lacked leadership and direction. Through his decisive leadership and strategic vision, he drove significant improvements in production output and product accuracy. These tangible results are a testament to his ability to inspire teams, implement effective processes, and achieve measurable outcomes. Beyond his technical and managerial acumen, Chris is a joy to work with due to his unwaveringly positive attitude and dedication to excellence. His enthusiasm and commitment foster a collaborative and productive work environment, making him a valued team member and leader. I am confident that Chris would be an excellent addition to your organization. His skills, experiences, and character align perfectly with what any forward-thinking company seeks in an employee. Moreover, his drive and determination will undoubtedly contribute to your organization’s success. If you would like additional details or specific examples of Chris’s achievements, please do not hesitate to contact me at (903) 360-9749. One effective way that worked for me in the past is to create a safety team comprised of non-management team members from around the facility. You have a safety manager head the team but no other management individuals are involved in the meetings. This created an environment of trust and inclusion. The key to this process is that their concerns must be addressed promptly by management to ensure they feel heard. Otherwise, they will stop contributing.
After delivering feedback to your team members, follow up is critical for sustainability. If they are performing well, they need to know it. If they have not reached goals, then a new strategy may need to be developed in order to reach them. Either way, reviewing best practices, what’s working, what’s not working, is always good idea for both sustainability and growth of the individuals. By focusing on best practices from the past in future endeavors, it shortens the time for development and success.
Wrapping up another Lean Training session, our team at Akuratemp focused on identifying waste within our production process!? The Lean Methodology identifies eight different kinds of waste that occur during manufacturing operations: Over/Under Production, Waiting, Unnecessary Transportation, Over/Under Processing, Excess Inventory, Unnecessary Motion, Defects, and Unused Creativity of Team Members. As we identified waste, we took a look at how these affect our production flow and explored ways to eliminate them to improve flow, efficiency, and creativity. Big shout-out to Tulay Yucebas for leading another awesome Continuous Improvement Training session! #continuousimprovement #healthcareinnovation #productionflow

In the case of a CNC lathe, it is also a good idea to true up your jaws before each run and check for material run out. It may be necessary to measure your material and true it up prior to running your program.

Dear manufacturing leader, What would you add to the lists? Process improvement defined without process mapping: * No data, lots of emotions * Frustration from lots of starts and stops, * Random acts of improvement, “ I guess we are doing this now” * Teams not on the same page, turf wars Process improvement defined with process mapping: * Facts and flow visually displayed for all to see * “Ah-hahs” come to mind as you build the map * Teams that know where they fit and why they matter * Parking lot filled with more CI’s to come next
I have practiced servant leadership a long time and it has proven very successful for me. I was at my last company for 24 years and the average tenure of my staff was 16 years. Over 1/3 of them had been there over 20 years. Servant leadership is about your team. The first step is to focus on communication and transparency. Then you want to ensure you are inclusive when making decisions that affect the team. Let them have a voice. This also gives them ownership. You may have to guide that voice but you ensure they feel heard. You also give a strong focus to mentorship. This also helps fill your pipeline for future growth. Lastly, you ensure they have the tools they need to perform their job and then let them take ownership of their area.
