Question... when I do the circular stamp on the moon stl from NASA, I can slowly make it bigger by dragging the mouse...

To use a stamp: Activate it on the side bar, click on the mesh where you want the center of the circle and drag the mouse to define its size.

Things got a bit glitchy at the end when I inserted the cylinder with the "Meshmix" command but was able to get it to work. Also, for the first step, I used the "SphereDisc Brush" under the "Select" command to make the circle selection instead of using the "Stamp" tool like you did. The stamp tool was acting weird for me. When I increased the size of the stamp it wasn't working correctly.

Well the bigger the diameter of the stamp the more faces need to get split... Seems there's a limit of what MM can handle on a certain system.

A circular selection using a big brush does not modify the selected triangles. So on a mesh with a lower resolution you will get something like this zig-zag selection seam (hit W to see the wireframe):

This is why I tried the selection method which let me choose a larger area (and I guess this stl is high enough resolution that the selection method was OK for this stl).
