I recently started working in high quantity manufacturing with cnc swiss machines and twin spindle cnc lathes and I have been noticing that we break alot of center drills. I realize that center drills are basically designed to break with their stepped tip geometry. That being said, if there is no need for a chamfer around the hole, is there any reason I should continue using a center drill instead of a nice chonky little spot drill?
