DIY angledrill guide
The UJK Drill Guide provides extra stability and accuracy when you need to drill straight or at an angle. The beauty of the system is you can take your cordless drill and convert it to the near perfect accuracy of a drill press.

It is widely used for high-speed cutting turning tools, kiln furnace structural materials, jet engine components, cermet materials, resistance heating elements, etc.
Headquartered in Lake Forest, California, USA, ARM is a leading manufacturer & supplier of refractory metals across the world, providing customers with high-quality refractory metals such as tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, rhenium, titanium, and zirconium at a very competitive price.
Tungsten carbide is a compound composed of tungsten and carbon with a molecular formula of WC and a molecular weight of 195.85. Due to its excellent physical and chemical properties, tungsten carbide has been widely used in the industry and our everyday life. In this article, we will take a close look at tungsten carbide's uses & properties.
It can also be used as a modified additive of NbC-C and TaC-C ternary system carbides, which can not only reduce the sintering temperature, but also maintain excellent performance, and can be used as aerospace materials.

The microhardness of the carbide is 17300 MPa, the elastic modulus is 710GPa, the compressive strength is 56MP, and the coefficient of thermal expansion is 6.9 × 10-6 / K. Tungsten Carbide is a black hexagonal crystal with metallic luster and hardness similar to diamond. It is a good conductor of electricity and heat. Pure tungsten carbide is fragile. If a small amount of titanium, cobalt, and other metals are added, the brittleness can be reduced.
Tungsten carbide does not interact with chlorine when it is below 400 ° C. It reacts violently with fluorine at room temperature and is oxidized into tungsten oxide when heated in the air.
In the 1920s, German scientist Karl Schroter found that pure tungsten carbide could not adapt to the intense stress changes formed during the drawing process. Only by adding low melting point metal to WC can the blank material have certain toughness without reducing the hardness.
Furthermore, tungsten carbide (WC) powder can be synthesized by using tungsten anhydride (WO3) and graphite in a reducing atmosphere at a high temperature of 1400-1600 ° C. Then by hot pressing sintering or hot isostatic pressing sintering, dense ceramic products can be made.
Adjustable angledrill Guide
It is practically impossible to drill at a specific angle freehand. This carefully engineered drill guide helps you to drill at angles over a 110° range. The UJK drill guide is in effect a versatile and portable smaller drill press. The portability of this guide ensures that you can drill virtually anywhere. Set at 90° it produces perpendicular holes. Quadrants on each side of the base allow angle setting at ±60°. A threaded knob on one side and the auxiliary handle on the other ensure any chosen angle setting is secure. The underside of the base has a rubberized high friction pad to help steady the guide. The large aperture in the base gives a clear view of the drilling mark and allows the use of bits up to 60mm diameter. Integral v-guides mean you can drill round the stock or pipes. The base has holes for fixing the guide in place onto a jig or sub-base.
Schroter first proposed the method of powder metallurgy in 1923, that is, mixing tungsten carbide with a small number of iron group metals (iron, nickel, cobalt), and then compression molding and sintering in hydrogen at a temperature above 1300 â to produce hardness alloys.

Thank you for reading our article, and we hope it can help you have a better understanding of the tungsten carbide uses and properties. If you want to know more about tungsten and other refractory metals, you can visit Advanced Refractory Metals (ARM) for more information.
Besides, it can be used to manufacture cutting tools, wear-resistant parts, and smelting crucibles for metals such as copper, cobalt, bismuth, and wear-resistant semiconductor films.
I’m disappointed in the key provided with this drill chuck. I misplaced it temporarily and used one that I happened to have in my tool chest. Mine was a better quality and actually engaged the teeth more securely. I wish I could tell you the specifics of my key but unfortunately I don’t know. All I know is that for the quality of tool the UJK is I would expect a better key.

Tungsten carbide is insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid, and sulfuric acid, and easily soluble in the mixed acid of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid. Tungsten carbide has a weak anti-oxidation ability, and it starts active oxidation in the air above 500 â.

Designed specifically for use with this drill guide (but a great complement to any drill press), UJK's Self-Centering Vise fits directly onto the UJK Drill Guide to ensure stock is always perfectly centered and perpendicular. This vise also features V-notches to hold round or square stock, while its four steel guide bars ensure smooth and consistent clamping pressure. See the UJK Self-Centering Vise page to learn more about this useful upgrade.
The chuck guide assembly runs between twin steel guide bars. Bronze bushes ensure a smooth action between the assembly and guide bars. There is enough space between the bars to accommodate most drills. A precision-machined main shaft runs inside another bronze bush. The drive shaft is a 1/4" hex allowing you to use either corded or cordless drills. The drill shaft ends in a 3/8" (10mm) capacity chuck. There is a depth stop for accurate boring and countersinking.
Action is true and has no wobble. Components are well made and solid. Sliding action is a bit rough, so I had to lubricate the guide rods. Rubber mat on bottom is a complete joke. Be ultra careful sliding the device over softer wood. I plan on cutting out my own, as manufactured rubber part is garbage. Base is a tad too small for proper stability. I recommend it with the above caveats.
In addition, it can be used as a super-hard tool material and wear-resistant material. It can form a solid solution with many carbides. WC-TiC-Co cemented carbide tools have been widely used.
The UJK Drill Guide is solid and offers a great deal of flexibility. Two pins, stored in the chuck guide assembly, when screwed into the base allow self-centering drilling, for example when fitting a lock mortice into a door. The capacity when using self-centering pins is 85mm. Optional 1/2 inch (13mm) Chuck and Self-Centering Vice available.
Since 1893, German scientists have heated tungsten trioxide and carbon together in an electric furnace to a high temperature to produce tungsten carbide. And tried to use its high melting point, high hardness, and other characteristics to make wire drawing dies, etc., in order to replace diamond materials. However, due to the high brittleness, easy cracking, and low toughness of tungsten carbide, it has not been applied in industry.
