Best endmill for aluminum

Hi guys before I go wondering around in the dark where is the best place to get your end mills and what kind do I need for the mr1.

I bought the ones from Langmuir originally, but as I’ve dropped and broken them, I get new ones from Oliver tool co Mostly because it’s easy and they ship free and fast since it’s only a few hours from here. Usually 2 days it comes in the mail.

As a side note, the Korean YG end mills come with plastic caps that you can leave on when you put in the end mill and put it back on before you loosen the collet. Haven’t broken one yet due to dropping out of the collet since. They should all come that way.

If the vice clamps were included in the price of the vise, the vise would be more expensive- and eliminate the potential for some customers to save money by making their own or using toe clamps

Thank you I will take a look at both of these today and I know it’s going to be somewhat expensive to get started having to buy two or three of each tool in case you break them. Right now I am not too happy with the guys where I got my unit from due to spending almost $800 on a pair of vices and not getting the whole Downs it seems wrong to me but what can I do I purchased the hold downs for the vice and they are on the way

Stubby drill set Thread mill kit Fly cutter with carbide insert spares From Langmuir High Helix two flute end mills from 1/8 - 1/2 " Carbide if possible. 4 flute hard steel end mills in the same sizes 2 and 4 flute 90 degree chamfer mills 1/8 - 3/8 " That should get you started. This will be a costly investment but, totally necessary.

Sorry Andy, I know nothing about gun smithing. I bet there are more than several that could put you in the right direction. I do get pretty much all my tooling from Lakeshore carbide. I believe that they have a special section for gun smith tooling. By the way welcome to the forum…
