In the US, Harvey is an under-the-radar classic which currently sits just below the Top 400. It has been climbing steadily since the early 2000s, with only a slight dip following two of the biggest bad-news stories of 2017, the Hurricane Harvey and convicted sexual offender Harvey Weinstein. Since then, the name has bounced back and was a fast rising choice in 2023 – a tribute to Harvey's classic charm.
Harvey, which was brought to England by the Normans, is a genial, old-timey name that has been much more popular across the pond in the UK. It was a Top 100 choice in England & Wales from 1997 until 2021, though 2022 saw it fall just slightly.

Harvey previously had a respectable run as a Top 100 name in the US in the late nineteenth and early decades of the twentieth century.
Derived from the French name Herve and the Breton Haerviu, Harvey has a strong meaning and a connection to a 6th century Saint of the blind. Popular in The Netherlands, New Zealand and Australia, it remains out of fashion in Canada, most likely due to the restaurant chain of the same name.
