Aluminummilling speed chart

Installed in an Okuma Genos 460 machining center, the system uses a servo motor and encoder to identify the tool position and will send a signal to the CNC machine control when it identifies a broken part.

This optional system saves considerable cycle time over tool breakage detectors that must intrude on the cutting area to check drills or taps.

Feeds and speeds are starting recommendations only. Factors such as machine, fixture and tooling rigidity, horsepower available, coolant application and others will affect the performance significantly. Please read machine operators instructions and use all safety shields and glasses before performing these operations.

Undetected broken drills or taps are notorious time and materials wasters. Almost as bad is a detection system that interrupts the machining process to check the tools. In this video Gosiger engineers demonstrate how a BK Mikro checking device can be used in-magazine to check for tool breakage outside of the cutting area.
