The purpose of using CNC coolants and neat oils during the machining process is to cool and lubricate the ferrous or non-ferrous metal being machined and the tool.  If the machine coolant fails to control the friction created by deformation, one or both contact surfaces is eroded.  This is the start of the failure of the tools within the operation.
