In our searching we've contacted various bit manufacturers and milling companies and everyone seems to have different terminologies and not very many answers when it comes to high speed stainless milling. So I've decided to come here for your knowledge. I just need to understand sort of the science of cutting stainless and what we need to be looking for in the bits we buy. We don't cut a ton of stainless enclosures but we cut enough that we need something fast that won't burn up our material.

At the moment we're having an issue where the milling bits we have been using for cutting our stainless have been discontinued. Unfortunately the knowledge used to get the original bits has been lost to the ages and we're at a loss for how to find a replacement.

We take electrical enclosures and mill holes for operators and touch screens to be installed in and drill and tap holes on the sub panels to install wiring and components. It's been very interesting overall but unfortunately most of what I've learned has been information handed down from the person before me that just did what the company that sold us the machine told him.
