2. What is the script for this film?! The dialogue manages to be both moronic and filled with fire lingo that is impossible to understand at the same time.

Years after the original Backdraft, Sean, son of the late Steve "Bull" McCaffrey, is assigned to investigate a deadly fire only to realize it is something much more sinister.

So this exists. Actually, unlike most belated DTV sequels this really is a direct sequel with two actors returning from the original. In fact Donald Sutherland might be in this more than the original. Still that said I didn't think it was all that good. Basically it's the original movie's arson investigation sublplot streched out to 90 minutes or so. No doubt to fit the greatly reduced budget. Oh and the firemen get to have guns this time and shoot bad guys.

Decent (and direct!) sequel to the first film which sees Kurt Russell’s kid working as an arson investigator. William Baldwin and Donald Sutherland reprise their roles, and screenwriter Gregory Widen is back as well. Unfortunately the story is one of those “blink and you’re lost” deals, and maybe it’s just me but for a movie taking place in Chicago the whole thing seems very quiet. Cities are loud. Be loud, movie. Also, they wait until the closing credits to reprise the original film’s score. It was sorely needed in the film proper. Good try, almost worked for me.
