i am lost as how to model this, as the biggest acme thread i can find goes to 5 inch. i can model the profile of the thread, but just cant get how to wrap it around the part,
Attached is a template for creating custom threads. You'll need to edit the thread form sketch, this will cause errors but they are easy to fix. The diameters and pitch are set in the properties manager, you might find editing the parameters is easier with the timeline rolled back.
Using the Sweep command, set the profile to the first sketch line and the path to the second sketch line. Set the Taper Angle to the number of degrees for the path.
If it's square you might be able to get away with a Coil. Coil has a square option but the profile is parallel to the axis not perpendicular with the helix. This means the height is squashed a bit but on a big diameter with a shallow helix you probably will not notice.
modeling the threads is the last part thankfully. i left it until tonight. but i have until thursday deadline so i hope i can make sense out of doing it manually
