Hey all. I’m a mechanical engineer and for the longest time I have been taught that when you are milling any kind of inside corner, that corner will never be a perfectly sharp corner. It will always have some sort of radius.

I called it tip radius, but like I said I have no idea if that is that right terminology. I have been searching Google but can’t seem to find any information on this subject.

What is the proper terminology for this? Is this radius a function of the end mill that is used? If so, why don’t end mills have a perfectly sharp tip so that there is no resultant radius on inside corners?
