If you have a tool changer then it is usual to have the M06 enabled as that will execute the toolchange and move the cnc to the correct position.

Regarding M6, I was using the same tool in several operations, hence Fusion was NOT outputting M6 in-between operations. That's good. The other pity was that my software was not recognising M6. For this I used another solution described here:
This would probably be best set in your grbl control, you can jog the Z down to the Z-2 position and then set that as your Z "Home" position.
I checked manually and it seems that with G28 I can go to home with Z and X separately (both axes stop exactly at home, 2mm from hard limits), but when I try same with Y axis it always triggers soft limit - it tries to reach the MCS zero instead of home zero. And that part I absolutely cannot explain.

The machine retracts well to home position Z0 (which is Z-2 in MCS), but when the line G28 G91 X0 Y0 is executed, it stops, with a message that it exceeds the machine range (soft limit is tripped).

What I can do is homing: the machine goes to limit switches in X, Y, Z and retracts by predefined value (in my case 2 mm). MCS is still at home home switches triggered. Then I have soft limtis 2 mm from hard limits on both sides.

That all sounds a little odd, appears you have both G28 and G53 being used so I assume that your Post Processor has been modified to produce the G53 coordinates at the end of the Program.

I am using standard GRBL PostProcessor in Fusion. No mods. I have the M6 output option ticked, still my output files do not contain M6. Any ideas here?

Normally I'd expect that for tool change and at the end of program the machine would go to a predefinded "home" position in machine coordinates. And with none of the options above it actually happens.
So, if your machine "Homes" to the switches correctly with a 2mm move back on all 3 axis I have to assume that once you are running a Program the "Soft Limits" come into play and if it is set as you say for 2mm either side of the Z0 then yes, it will go to the Limit Switch so you need to have only a Z axis soft limit that is only set to a Z-2 position, the machine should then stop at that position before it reaches the switch.

No matter whcih option i chose for retractions: G28 or G53 or ClearanceHeight, the outputs are very similar. Both options G28 and G53 retract in between tools the same way (just retract in WCS by defined value), the only diff. is that with G53 the return to 0 at the end of program is using G53 on X and Y axes. Z is still zeroed by G28 in both.
I have hard limits on all 3 axes on both directions and soft limits at 2mm distance from those. What is the most strange is that part of code at the end of G28 option code:
PCD is commonly used in cutting tools to cut through composite materials and super hard metals to extend the tool life.
The issue is that my Z "home" is not Z0 but Z-2. So at each tool change and at the end of the program it runs to Z0 with G28 and is tripping my limit switch.
Could not figure out the proper settings with G28, but works absolutely fine with G53. The issue was in that Fusion was taking machine configuration (limits) parameters from "Document" folder instead of from "Local" folder. One of those was not updated properly. Now everything works like a charm.
With G28 it retracts nice to Z0 in machine coordinates. At the end of cycle it also retracts nice to ZO with G28 and then runs in G53 to X150 Y75, which are defined home machine coordinates.

Hi, I need advice on retracts between tool changes and at the end of cycle. There are 3 options in GRBL PostProcessor settings: G53, G28 and safe retracts.
Any idea how to modify post-processor in such a way so that it grabs "home" position values from machine definition? I'd like the machine to run to Z-2 first of all for G28 retract?
